The title says it all: I wrote a cryptic crossword themed around public transport in Hong Kong, and certain related incidents that may or may not have happened within my friend group. I’m really bad at solving cryptic crosswords myself, but I thought I’d try setting one anyway.

Compared to ordinary crosswords where each clue provides a synonym or definition for the answer word, cryptic crosswords more wordplay-oriented. I found this post on Puzzling Stack Exchange to be a very useful and comprehensive beginners’ guide to cryptic crosswords. In fact, the puzzle I’ve set involves all nine clue types introduced in that post.

(I also managed to include a cryptic definition clue, which wasn’t mentioned in the Stack Exchange post, but was really nicely explained in this article by the Guardian.)
